It is a shame that everyday 6 rape cases are recorded in Nepal. Perhaps every single female has that fear of the next victim of rape in their head. From the baby who is not a year old to the women that is 40 years old are concluded as the victim of rape. How unsafe we are? No females are safe in this society. Women’s safety is violated in their daily lives in both pubic and private spheres. Violence against women cases are increasing day by day, specially crimes of rape. Girls particularly between the age of 11-16 are victims of rape. With the reported cases of rapes by father , uncles , neighbors. More than 2000 rape cases were recorded alone in the last fiscal year in Nepal but not all of these cases reached to the police station .
There is no secure place for girls and women in this society. Sita Rai was looted and raped by public officials at the airport. It is a sad fact that in the cases of violence against women, the victims themselves become the target for blame simply for the fact that she is a girl and therefore must be guilty. There are different kind of tools that is being used by the male dominated society to prove their domination over female . Sexual harassment , rape , domestic violence against women have become the weapons used by the male to display the male superiority. Being a woman, it is always daunting to walk down the street because there might be a group of men down the corner that make it impossible to pass through. This is one of the prime reason of increasing rape in Nepal. She’s just 11 years old girl .
She still don’t know many things , her breast are still not well matured. But why did that bloody uncle pressed? Why? Today her own father , uncle , brother try to molest her. Who’s there to save her ? Patriarchy begins within the family. As a result violence against women can be addressed primarily in our own homes and communities by raising awareness on gender equality. There must be the gender equality within a family . To maintain it, effort must be made to create the environment of equality .
Both male and females members of the society should have knowledge on healthcare, equality and females must be taught to determine about the good and bad touch.
There is a myth that Women provoke men to rape them by wearing revealing clothes or flirting. But the fact is It doesn’t matter what a woman is wearing, or how she is behaving – if she doesn’t consent to sex, that is rape. Only the rapist is ever responsible for rape. And we have also seen that Men are also raped and sexually assaulted. While Rape Crisis focuses particularly on women and girl survivors, we of course recognize that the impacts of sexual violence and abuse on men and boys are no less devastating. We believe all survivors of sexual violence and abuse deserve specialist support.
But It is necessity not to suppress the courage of our girls/women by restricting their mobility but to educate them on personal safety and gender inequality. Opening discussing and teaching children how to protect themselves from potential abuse at home is necessary. The contribution of women to a society’s transition from pre-literate to literate likewise is undeniable.
Nepal has made strong national and international legal commitments to ending gender based violence and inequality but has failed to implement it. Mentioned that One who commits rape should be imprisoned for six up to ten years if the woman raped is under fourteen years of age, and for three up to five years if the woman is fourteen or above fourteen years of age. And also The one who has made an attempt to rape but has not committed rape will get punished equal to half of the one’s who has committed it.

Human right and legal right education should be given to all the peoples living in the society. There must be immediate response to violence against women cases.
There must be awareness program conduction to end the conservative cultural practices. Interaction programmes on why policy administration is slow in investigations of violence against women and why the cases are ignored should be done. Learn to respect each and every member of the house . Let’s stop the cases of rape from spreading like daily 4364 cases of corona virus.
